11/28/2022

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University’s School of Education is home to the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching (CTLT). Founded in 1997 with a vision to combine research, teaching and service, the CTLT is celebrating 25 years of connecting education with technology by hosting a weeklong celebration Dec. 5 – 8.

“We are excited to showcase contemporary technologies that are being used for teaching and learning in PK-12 schools. We invite everyone to stop by and engage in activities that model what is being done in today’s classrooms with technology,” said Denise Schmidt-Crawford, Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching director.

The celebration features hands-on activities in the CTLT as well as a keynote lecture by Dr. Punya Mishra. Mishra is the Associate Dean of Scholarship and Innovation and Professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University.

As noted in his bio, he’s ranked among the top two percent of scientists in the world and in the top 100 scholars who have the biggest influence on education practice and policy in the United States. Mishra internationally recognized for his work centered around integrating technology in teaching, the role of creativity and aesthetics in learning and the application of collaborative, design-based approaches to educational innovation.

“Dr. Mishra’s visit is an exciting opportunity for the Iowa State community to learn from an exceptional scholar and speaker who has committed his career to problem-solving issues around educational technology, creativity, and innovation,” said Schmidt-Crawford.

The community is invited to attend the reception and lecture from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in room 1302 of the Advanced Research and Teaching Building.
