Francis named Interim Director of Human Sciences Extension and Outreach

Ames, Iowa – Sarah Francis has been named interim associate dean for extension in the College of Human Sciences and interim director of Human Sciences Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University.  

Francis is currently an associate professor with ISU’s Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and food health extension and outreach state specialist. Since joining the team in 2009, Francis has been a leader in research and innovation, executing several  ISU Extension and Outreach projects to improve the lives of Iowans. She also brings extensive experience in assessing outcomes of food safety, nutrition and wellness programs. 

“I am excited and honored to be able to lead and serve the Human Sciences Extension and Outreach community during this transition,” Francis said. “I will continue the work of Dr. Debra Sellers in advocating for the impactful work Human Sciences Extension and Outreach does daily throughout Iowa and working towards Journey 2030.” 

Francis follows former associate dean and director, Debra Sellers, who is now the College of Human Sciences associate dean for academic personnel.
