Overall Experience

I studied abroad in Fall 2024 at the London College of Fashion, where I studied Product Development and Design. I took incredible classes like Corsetry and Footwear Design, and met amazing people while I was there. I had the opportunity while abroad to travel on the weekends, with some of my favorite trips being to Rome, Scotland, and Prague.

Learning experience

My most valuable learning experience was for sure learning how to be okay with not knowing things and being able to sit back and learn them. From being someone who hadn’t left the country before this experience, learning how to travel and especially how to travel with others was a big learning curve. On top of this, I was taking classes in subjects I had little to no previous experience in, which also made me feel like a fish out of water. From this experience, I learned how to be patient with myself and trust in the people teaching me.

Memorable experience

I was able to visit one of my friends who was studying abroad in Rome, for a weekend, and the art and architecture I saw was unreal.

What did you not expect?

I did not expect how different the class structure was, this experience definitely helped me in getting used to that kind of change, and will help me when transitioning from an academic environment to a professional one.

What advice would you give?

Go!

How has this experience impacted your life?

This experience gave me the opportunity to meet tons of new people from around the world that I never would have met. On top of this, the classes I took improved my conceptual and technical design skills a ton, and helped me to narrow down what I want to do in the future.

How did you learn about this experience?

I first learned about this experience when a representative from the London College of Fashion came to my FDM 1780 class my first year and spoke about the program.
