McKinney and Eike honored by the International Textile and Apparel Association at annual conference

The International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) recently honored associate chair of undergraduate affairs, Ellen McKinney, and assistant professor, Rachel Eike with awards at the association’s annual conference.

McKinney received the ITAA Teaching Excellence Award that recognizes leadership and contribution to undergraduate and graduate education. McKinney has focused on testing and applying the theory behind apparel design practice, particularly in the pattern development area. Eike was honored with the organization’s Rising Scholar Award that recognizes faculty who teach, research and conduct service in the area of textiles and apparel. Her research focuses on the area of “Discreet Design” to address environmental sustainability through utilizing new and emerging materials for functional and creative product development.
