Think event planning is all about weddings? Think again.

As an Event Management major at Iowa State University, Mikayla Lane discovered an industry filled with opportunities ranging from corporate events and hospitality experiences to club management and team-building programs. What started as an interest in wedding planning quickly grew into a passion for a much broader and dynamic profession.

Today, Mikayla serves as President of CMAA Future and works as an Event & Hospitality Coordinator at The Recipe in Ames, where she helps clients bring events to life from initial concept through final execution. From managing budgets and contracts to coordinating schedules and working events firsthand, she’s already gaining professional experience while still earning her degree.
