Prepared to teach math and change lives

Not only does Iowa State prepare you to become a math teacher, you’re prepared to change lives.  

Meet Parker – he came to Iowa State because he loved the campus and enjoyed math. He thought his path was in actuarial science. But, he also has a sister, brother, mom and dad who are all teachers. After a few months, Parker followed in his family’s teaching legacy and decided to combine his love for math with his passion for helping others. 

“I really enjoy being able to help kids grow up – not only in math, but as a person. And, kind of help them grow into the people they want to be – that’s what I am most excited about in becoming a teacher,” shared Parker. 

At Iowa State, you become an expert in your subject area – in Parker’s case, that was math. Then, you get a secondary degree from Iowa State University’s School of Education where you learn how to effectively teach your future students. 

Parker learned from experts in math and experts in education. Now? He’s ready for his future career as a math teacher.
