What kind of physical education program does Iowa State offer?

Parker pursued a P.E. degree at Iowa State to help children learn the importance of physical activity in living a healthy life.

“It’s nice to be able to make things happen here (in P.E. class) that can influence them the rest of their lives,” shared Parker.

As a physical education major, Iowa State students are part of the Department of Kinesiology and Health and the School of Education.

That means Parker’s degree came with an in-depth understanding of body mechanics, human movement, and exercise’s influence on the body through the Department of Kinesiology. Then, the School of Education gave him the tools he needed to effectively teach and engage children in learning.

Through hours of hands-on experience as part of Iowa State’s physical education program, Parker is ready for his career as an elementary P.E. teacher.
