Hughes-Belding named the Nancy Rygg Armbrust Faculty Fellow in Early Childhood Development and Education

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University Professor of Human Development and Family Studies,Kere Hughes-Belding, has been named the Nancy Rygg Armbrust Faculty Fellow in Early Childhood Development and Education.
Hughes-Belding is nationally recognized for her work in infant and early childhood mental health, home visiting interventions and caregiver-child relationships from birth to age 3. A faculty and research mentor endorsed in infant mental health, she has secured more than $6.5 million in external funding over the past decade through initiatives including the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program and the Project Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health (Project LAUNCH).
Hughes-Belding teaches graduate courses in infant mental health and family theory, mentors students and junior faculty, and serves as a faculty success advisor in the College of Health and Human Sciences. A nationally certified trainer in tools such as HOVRS and PICCOLO, her work advances workforce development and high-quality early childhood practice.
The fellowship recognizes faculty whose scholarship advances early childhood education and child development, reflecting Hughes-Belding’s sustained contributions in research, teaching and community engagement.
