Responsibilities

My responsibilities as an event intern includes: venue setup, venue cleaning/light maintenance, event information organization, supporting other staff, delegation to staff, and much more! Working in the events field, you have to be flexible and think of creative solutions to problems on the fly as well. This can be anything from fixing the event timeline, to resetting the floor plan during an event. The possibilities are endless so I have to be prepared for anything.

Accomplishments

I like to think that each event that I work are all a part of my greatest accomplishments! I am super proud of myself for being able to put myself outside of my comfort zone and be a part of so many events with a team that I can count on. Many of the events that I work are weddings, so being able to make such an important day a truly special memory for our clients is something I will always be grateful for.

Learning experience

Some of the greatest lessons that I have learned would have to be: You can't plan for everything so be ready to think outside of the box, an event can't be completed on your own so make sure you have a team you are confident in, and the most important lesson in my opinion, your internship is more than a job, it's a learning experience.

What advice would you give?

Your first couple of weeks might feel chaotic, and that's normal! If you're feeling overwhelmed, talk to someone you can trust so you can set yourself up for success. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions! You are here to learn so make sure that you are getting the most out of your internship.
