Kinesiology and Health course partners students with local school for adapted P.E.

Future physical education teachers taking the kinesiology and health course, KIN 3950: Adapted Physical Education, are gaining hands-on, career-relevant experience while making a difference in the Ames community.

For over 20 years, Iowa State’s Kinesiology and Health Department has partnered with the Ames Community School District’s preschool. Students learn how to create inclusive activities, modify equipment and develop strategies that promote participation and confidence for all children while the preschoolers learn foundational movement skills.

The program was recently featured in an article by the Ames Community School District.
