Responsibilities

• Set up and take down drills and exercises • Lead warmups and observe athletes form during workouts • Learn technique and training methods of sprinting • Learn importance of pre-testing athletes using force plates to determine athletes’ needs of improvement • Test athletes’ countermovement jumps and isometric strength using force plates • Help athletes achieve their own personal goals in regards to training • Educate athletes on importance of proper hydration and nutrition

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was being able to develop rapport with the athletes, learn their goals and help them achieve them. I also was able to improve my knowledge on training athletes' speed and strength.

Learning experience

I learned how important it is to have a good communication with the athletes so that they know and understand what you are trying to tell them. Whether you are explaining an exercise or correcting their form, it is important to have good communication with them. I have also learned how important it is have a strong communication with coworkers. If you can communicate well with coworkers, it can help things go smoother in and out of the facility.

What advice would you give?

Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Whether it be communicating with athletes, asking supervisors/coworkers questions, or trying something new. Also be willing to learn outside of your internship. If you work with Goldfinch Athletics, Tucker will give you plenty of resources to continue your education.
