Responsibilities
My responsibilities included setting up the equipment for the workout and picking it up at the end. I helped assist injured athletes through their workouts. I was responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the weight room and all of the equipment. I sat down with coaches and learn more about the strength and conditioning setting
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment from my internship came from helping the injured athletes. It was always great to see the injured athletes be able to start working back into the normal lifting groups and return to practice, especially when it was an athlete who had been injured for months.
Learning experience
The greatest lesson I learned from this internship was the amount of work that I was going to take to get into the field. The strength and conditioning field can be one that is hard to break into, and it is going to take a lot of work to make that happen.
What advice would you give?
The advice I have for future students would be to start getting experience as soon as you can. Getting experience as soon as you can will help you figure out what you want to do with your major. It will also help you build a network early on, and having a big network is very important for any field you may want to work in.
