Responsibilities

Throughout this Internship, I have communicated with members and outside parties to schedule a wide variety of events including annual events, dinner programs, networking events, and special interest group meetings. I have met with prospective clients to go over contracts, pricing, packages, and details of their events. I attended and decorated a booth at wedding expos. I have also created and coordinated the drafting/distribution of promotional materials and assisted in managing pre and on-site registration (tracking via database and generating reports) for all events and programs. I also worked with our Sales Team to plan and execute all activities necessary to ensure successful events. Finally, I monitor the special events content on the website and social media sites to ensure they are updated and secure equipment and rentals as needed, set up, tear down and help coordinate overall event execution.

Accomplishments

So far, my greatest accomplishment has been two things. First, I have generated over 50,000 dollars in sales over the past 6 weeks I have been here. Second I was able to attend a wedding expo where I put together all of our wedding packages, and decorated our booth with multiple different examples of wedding styles we can do here at Black Diamond

Learning experience

Some of the greatest lessons I have learned is that this is a fast-paced environment and things are constantly changing. When you have big events it is important to realize that very rarely they will they go the exact way you planned in your head.

What advice would you give?

Often times you will find yourself with not a lot to do at your internship, so take full advantage of that and find things for yourself to do. At the end of the day, your internship is what you make out of it. Be present, and work hard.
