Responsibilities
I assisted a financial advisor with a range of tasks that supported the advisor's work with clients. This included things like: maintaining client records, conducting research, scheduling appointments, preparing reports and presentations, and managing the advisor's calendar and emails.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was learning many concepts that come with being a Financial Advisor in a practical way. Getting to use the knowledge I have obtained through school and apply them to real life situations, really helped me take how much I understand these topics to the next level.
Learning experience
Being patient with the process of learning. It is very easy to be hard on ourselves when we don’t understand something right away or if we don’t bring any value to a job right away. But allowing yourself to understand that you are learning, and it is going to take time, is a good mindset to avoid discouragement and giving up.
What advice would you give?
Reach out to as many people in this field as you can. Be curious and do not limit how much you ask questions. People will see your passion and your commitment through reaching out and being curious. It will grant you many opportunities you would have thought you would never have gotten.
