Responsibilities
I work with the men's knit team. This means I work with many categories, including polos, tees, sweaters, and heavyweights. Some of the things I regularly do are attend fittings, organize the fashion closets, file new samples, and send lots of emails. I also get to work cross-functionally with many of the other Tommy teams like merchandising, product development, graphics, fabric, etc.m
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was the way I stepped outside my comfort zone by doing this internship. I have never had an internship before and also never designed men's clothing. This internship has pushed me so much creatively and also professionally. I am just proud of the way my confidence has grown throughout the last 10 weeks.
Learning experience
The greatest lesson I have learned from my experience is how important communication is. Almost every problem I have seen in my internship, whether it be something I did or one of my team members did, was because someone didn't properly communicate. Especially since the fashion industry is so team-oriented, it is crucial to always let people know what is happening.
What advice would you give?
To go outside your comfort zone and take a risk. The most important thing you can do while in college is learn. Taking a job or internship that scares you or is something you aren't familiar with, can be one of the best things you can do because you never know the outcome or what new thing you will learn. You will never grow by just doing things that are comfortable.
