Responsibilities

Help members become independent and self-sufficient members of their community by helping them through various means. This may include helping members understand and conquer mental health challenges/crises and guiding them through how to do basic routines and nuances of daily life. Teach important life skills, pass medications, and report on goals the members have set.

Accomplishments

Helping members achieve and work towards goals, such as securing and maintaining a job. My biggest accomplishment was seeing and tracking the members' growth and progress after working with them.

Learning experience

Organizations like Mainstream Living have taught me that mental health does not always have a linear progression. Programs like this have taught me that utilizing SMART goals and supporting individuals through that process can lead to extreme growth.

What advice would you give?

Follow the path you feel is meant for you and understand that community and public health are constantly changing, so your opinions are valued in this industry.
