Responsibilities

Work on the sloper project that consists of draping/drafting pattern slopers for dress forms and from a pattern book. Create the slopers and digitize to be laser cut on acrylic for other students to use in classes such as 225, 329, and 495. Record studio usage across the semester and conduct a studio inventory.

Accomplishments

During my internship, I enjoyed working on the sloper project. It is important for students to have access to these slopers as it provides a foundation for garment construction. The slopers are also great resource for students to create and experiment with patterns. Additionally, I had fun organizing and conducting inventory of studio resources.

Learning experience

From my internship experience, I expanded on my knowledge of slopers and creating patterns, and re-learned how to digitize sloper patterns. I also learned about organizing and maintaining studio resources. Overall, the experience taught me the importance of continuing to learn new skills and expand upon knowledge.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students in my major is to actively engage in projects, have fun, study abroad, and start looking for internships early. Network with professionals in the industry and explore as many opportunities as possible. Lastly, always say yes, experiment with ideas, discover your strengths and interests, and don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them.
