Responsibilities

-Conducting focus groups, synthesizing, and analyzing data -Tracking trends of mental health and burnout among college students -Connecting with colleges and local public health to examine and share the data regarding mental health -Creating outreach materials that will bring awareness to mental health and burnout for college students (via PowerPoint, Canva, etc.) -Attending public health meetings -Analyzing and identifying gaps in research after completion of the literature review on mental health, lack of services, and the impact of both on college students

Accomplishments

I was able to help conduct a focus group with Drake University students--I felt this was my greatest accomplishment because I was able to physically make a difference and gather data that would be able to help future students be able to identify and avoid burnout.

Learning experience

I learned that the onset of burnout can happen to anyone and be influenced by so many things--everyone's experiences are so different, so being able to track similar influences of burnout from students can help pinpoint why students at Drake are facing these issues, and how that can expand to other universities and public health.

What advice would you give?

Be open to anything, and doing that will always help you retain and learn more information. That will cause you to expand your skills and make a difference.
