Responsibilities

During this internship I had many fun and many boring responsibilities. Managing inventory was a huge part. Once inventory and deliveries came in, organizing boxes is very important to keep a clean stock room. When inventory was all caught up, customer service was another huge part.

Accomplishments

My greatest experience would be Montauk. I have had previous experience with Bethpage, and larger courses. However, Montauk Downs is in a lower populated area, and the course feels more like a country club. We have a lot more regulars, run leagues, and are able to treat guest on a more personal level. I have been able to create relationships quicker and easier this year then any year before.

Learning experience

Patience. I learned patience is very useful for many different reasons. At the beginning of the summer I couldn't help but think about how I do not know what I am doing. How I am not very useful and felt like a waste of time was being spent by all of us. Now that the end of the summer is here, I do not want to leave because I have learned so much and have started being very useful.

What advice would you give?

Patience. The hospitality industry has slow times and fast times. I find the slow times to be sometimes unbearable. I love the busy times. Its the patience you need in the slow times to make it to the faster times.
