Maeve Lowry
Responsibilities
My responsibilities were to observe speech and occupational therapy sessions so I could gain a better understanding of how they both considered behavior analysis. Create group activities for a variety of age groups to increase social skills. Observe a Board Certified Behavior Analysis for intake assessments and client's treatment plans.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment during my internship was that I was able to narrow down what I wanted to do in the future. I knew I wanted to work with youth, I just wasn't sure of the population. This internship opened my eyes in the best way to what future career would be best for me.
Learning experience
One of the greatest lessons I learned from my experience is constantly being yourself. This lesson will help you build more trust and better relationships. Not letting yourself be who you are is detrimental to your mental health.
What advice would you give?
My advice for future students is not to be scared to go out of your comfort zone. Doing this can be terrifying initially, but it can help you grow and learn within the organization.
