Responsibilities

During my internship I assisted customers by recommending stylish ensembles. I oversaw and maintained the stores inventory. I also took payments from customers when making a sale. During my internship I conducted a live sale video every week introducing the stores new arrivals. I also redesigned the floor set each week, specifically to highlight the new arrivals. Mu responsibilities also included editing and posting content on all social media platforms as well as modeling clothing when needed.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was when my supervisor put me in charge of the stores floor-set after my first time conducting it. My supervisor was so impressed by my work, she immediately wanted me to take over that position. Because of this, my confidence with designing the floor has grown which has enabled me to preform even better.

Learning experience

I have learned so much from my experience at Mint L.A. Something I have learned specifically is when it comes to fashion is you will never be able to please everyone. You must choose an area or style you love and work to perfect it. I have also learned that customers will give you feedback within your store whether it is positive or negative. Some of this feedback is useful and should be taken into consideration but some is also pointless. You must be able to sift through the feedback you get and learn what to digest and what to just let roll off your shoulder. Another lesson I learned is if you have quality products and are good to your customers, they will keep coming back. As a small business it is important to tell your story to your customers and keep your brand consistent along with your story.

What advice would you give?

The best advice I could give to future students in my major is to take a deep breath. If you font get accepted for the first internship you apply for, don't take it personally. The right one will work out for you. I suggest to use a planner to help keep your hours and coursework organized. Also, don't panic if you don't love what you're doing. Your internship is to gain experience and insight in your area. If you end up not enjoying it, move on to something else. Your niche is out there, sometimes it just takes longer to find it.
