Responsibilities

During this internship, I’ve had the opportunity to engage in diverse projects encompassing health promotion, advocacy, and development. In health promotion, my contributions included participating in outreach, tabling, and delivering presentations. I also designed and updated promotional materials. In advocacy, I assisted with contacting legislators and preparing for our advocacy day. Throughout my internship, I helped the development team with various tasks in preparation for their largest annual fundraising event, including creating a social media campaign.

Accomplishments

One of my greatest accomplishments during this internship experience was my contributions to maternal and child health in my role. This accomplishment included helping a daycare implement a tobacco and nicotine-free policy, providing tobacco cessation resources to expecting parents, and creating a Quitline resource card for pregnant individuals.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I took away from my experience was the invaluable role of supportive individuals in fostering personal growth and development. I am deeply grateful for the support I received from my co-workers. Their guidance and encouragement empowered me to embrace new challenges, develop resilience in the face of setbacks, and cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement. As I navigate future endeavors, I will carry the lessons I learned and actively seek out individuals who inspire and motivate me to become the best version of myself.

What advice would you give?

Asking for help is a skill that is important to develop in a team setting or any collaborative environment. It's crucial to recognize that no one can accomplish everything alone. Seeking assistance is a sign of strength, not weakness, and it enables you to leverage the expertise and resources of others to achieve common goals more effectively.
