Responsibilities

During my internship, I had the opportunity to shadow a Front Desk Manager, a Guest Representative, and Housekeeping staff, gaining insights into various aspects of the hospitality industry. As I shadowed the Front Desk Manager, I learned about overseeing daily operations at the front desk. This involved managing check-ins and check-outs, handling reservations, and addressing guest inquiries and concerns. I also observed how the manager coordinated with other hotel departments to ensure a smooth and efficient guest experience. While shadowing the Guest Representative, I assisted in welcoming guests, providing them with information about the hotel's amenities and local attractions. I learned the art of excellent customer service, addressing special requests, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Additionally, I observed how to manage reservations and room assignments effectively. In my time with the Housekeeping staff, I participated in maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of guest rooms. I learned about the proper cleaning procedures, making beds, changing linens, and restocking amenities. I also helped upkeep public areas, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for guests. Throughout the internship, I gained valuable insights into the importance of teamwork and communication within the hospitality industry. I learned how each department plays a crucial role in providing a memorable guest experience, and I developed a deeper appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the hotel staff in ensuring guests' comfort and satisfaction.

Accomplishments

During my internship, my greatest accomplishment was making new friends, acquiring valuable hotel industry skills, and expanding my network. Through collaborative work with colleagues and interacting with guests, I forged meaningful connections with fellow interns and staff members. This experience enriched my personal life and provided me with extensive knowledge and expertise in various aspects of hotel operations. Moreover, I had the opportunity to interact with professionals from different departments, broadening my network and paving the way for potential future opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Learning experience

Internships offer valuable lessons beyond academics. They enhance professional skills, provide industry insights, and foster networking opportunities. Adaptability, learning from mistakes, and self-discovery are integral parts of the experience. The value of hard work and building confidence becomes evident through real-world contributions.
