Responsibilities

I plan, organize and implement programs directed to youth and their interests, while promoting youth development. I also collaborates with other staff and supervisors to support the success of club members. Outside of my day to day duties, I attend community outreach events and fundraisers. I also am actively completing a self – led project to connect club members and their families to services in Story County

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship experience has been forming my own connections with the members. This has made my time so far at my internship enjoyable, but more importantly I have been able to be a person of support and safety for the members.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I have learned from my experience has been learning how to have work life balance. This is something you hear talked about a lot and may have a plan in mind, but putting it in action is different than planning it due to other responsibilities you may have.

What advice would you give?

I would advise future students to always remember the "why" behind the work that they do. Human Services is such a diverse field and it can be overwhelming at times, so always remember why you want to do the work you are doing and use that as a cornerstone for when you may be stressed.
