Rachel Lukowski a 2017 Iowa State University alumna has recently been named director of football nutrition by head football coach Matt Campbell

Football players need proper nutrition to reach their full physical potential on the field. That’s why Iowa State University football program created a new role for their team — director of football nutrition — and chose an Iowa State University alumna to fill it.

Rachel Lukowski, a 2017 B.S./M.S. graduate in diet and exercise, will serve Iowa State football as an on-site registered dietitian. This role enhances coach Matt Campbell’s student-athlete development program. According to Campbell, Lukowski is well-versed in “implementing cutting edge ideas to help improve student-athlete performance.”

Lukowski’s expertise in food, health, and exercise will be critical in maintaining the performance of Cyclone football players throughout future seasons.

“Solid nutrition plays a key role in the foundation of helping athletes reach their full potential on and off the field,” she said. “Through nutrition counseling, nutrition education, overseeing meal planning, and staying on top of latest research in performance nutrition, our mission is to fuel the Cyclones.”
