Overall Experience
My experience was eye-opening, and I loved being able to get closer to people in my major. It was also a great experience getting to learn more about fashion and experiencing fashion in one of the fashion capitals. I loved exploring the city and traveling with my friends, and I feel like I learned so much about myself as a designer and person.
Learning experience
The most valuable thing I learned was to take every opportunity you can, you never know what doors could open up if you don't try.
Memorable experience
My most memorable experience would be navigating the tube. Before London, I had never taken any public transportation in a big city, so I was obviously very nervous about it. But on my first day, my friends and I all got lost, and I feel like that really bonded us and helped us connect quickly.
What did you not expect?
Something I didn't expect was how much I was able to learn about myself on my abroad trip. I feel like being somewhere new really opened my mind up to so many possibilities and opportunities that I wouldn't have had at home. I plan on seizing every opportunity possible now and allowing myself to fully express myself creatively through my work.
What advice would you give?
My advice would be to get out of your comfort zone and try to go exploring by yourself. You will get acclimated to the place so much faster, and it will be super rewarding being able to know you have navigated a new city all by yourself.
How has this experience impacted your life?
I feel like I thrived abroad and loved being there so much; I feel like I was my full self there. My goal after coming back is to move there after graduation and pursue a career there!
How did you learn about this experience?
I learned through my advisor! I would encourage everyone to talk about the possibility of studying abroad with their advisor and how to get into their graduation plan.
