Libby Seyller has always known she was meant to work with kids. Growing up in the small town of Colo, Iowa, she spent her childhood surrounded by five younger siblings and spent countless hours volunteering, teaching dance, and working in a kindergarten classroom during her high school years.

When it came time to choose a college, Iowa State felt like a natural fit. Her parents are both proud alumni, and she was drawn to the welcoming campus, the wide range of opportunities, and its proximity to her hometown.

Now majoring in Early Childhood Education, Seyller dreams of teaching third grade. Her time at Iowa State has been full of hands-on experiences, including earning an endorsement in special education. Her work with children with special needs also deepened her understanding of inclusive education.

One of her biggest academic passions is understanding how the brain processes information. She is fascinated by how teaching strategies can be adapted to support different learning styles.

“I am driven to seek new perspectives and innovative teaching methods,” Seyller said. “The more I learn, the more I want to find new ways to reach students and support their learning experiences.”

Beyond the classroom, Seyller is involved with Dance Marathon as a morale captain, where she’s found joy in uplifting others and making a difference. She is also grateful for the small, supportive classes within her major, where she has found lasting friendships and strong mentorship for faculty.

As she approaches graduation, her ultimate goal is clear.

“I want to create a classroom where every student feels included, supported, and excited to learn,” she said.

With a deep love for education and a clear sense of purpose, Seyller is ready to take everything she’s learned at Iowa State and pour it into the next generation.
