Hannah Gould
Responsibilities
I help work the team merchandise stores during game days by processing transactions, tidying up the store, and assisting customers. I also help set up our store before games and tear it down after. Outside of game days I work in the office fulfilling ecommerce orders, tagging new merchandise, photographing new products, and occasionally helping out by modeling new merchandise.
Accomplishments
I have to say my greatest accomplishment was getting the opportunity to help first hand with a massive merchandise preorder for hundreds of our Star Wars Iowa Wookies shirts. Also just getting to know and interact with those die hard fans that come to every game and make experiences memorable for them and all fans.
Learning experience
I have learned so much during this internship with the Iowa Wild and I would have to say the greatest lessons I have learned are how important communication is. Communication is so important when talking with coworkers and other departments to make sure everyone is on the same page and so that merchandise doesn't get lost or misplaced when moving racks for set up and tear down. Communication is also very important when working with vendors and designing new merchandise to insure that everything is up to our standards and will make profit in the end.
What advice would you give?
I would say take any and every opportunity you get. Initially I never even thought sports merchandising was a path I would be interested in but after taking this opportunity with the Iowa Wild I’m considering it as a potential career. It is also never too early to start looking for opportunities that you could learn from and grow your resume.
