Responsibilities

Aid in researching methodology on executive function for a graduate student's thesis. Presenting research in lab class, leading discussion in lab for intervention planning. Create an intervention for a study using an exergaming program (StepMania), and build exercise courses within the program.

Accomplishments

Acquiring a deeper understanding of the research world and how to conduct research and design a study.

Learning experience

Building strong communication between my research group and within the lab class, and being confident in presenting and in doing my part in the work.

What advice would you give?

Do not limit yourself to what you think you can do or what you've been taught the most in your classes, find new experiences within your field, or outside of it. As an exercise science option, I went into this research internship not knowing too much about neural science and found so much more than I thought I would. Not only a new fascination over motor control and neural science but also finding my own confidence and communication skills through this experience.
