Transfer Student Information
- AESHM Transitions: Designed for students transferring in to Apparel, Merchandising and Design; Event Management; or Hospitality Management, the AESHM Transitions learning community will connect you with peers and faculty in the program. You’ll also have opportunities to develop as a leader and engage in experiences outside the classroom.
- Food Science and Human Nutrition: Open to both first-year and new transfer students, the FS HN learning community is open to students majoring in culinary food science, dietetics, food science and pre-diet and exercise. You can expect opportunities both in and out of the classroom that connect you with mentors and faculty as well as opportunities for field trips, service learning and career exploration.
- Human Development and Family Studies: All students enrolled in Human Development and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Family Consumer Science Education and Studies and Financial Counseling and Planning are automatically part of the HDFS Learning Community! You’ll be able to connect with other HDFS students as well as interact with your peers and faculty outside of class.
- Kinesiology Transfer / Change of Major: Designed for entering transfer students and students who have recently changed their major are automatically enrolled in the Kinesiology Transfer / Change of Major learning community with the goal of making a successful academic and social transition to Iowa State and to the academic program. The learning community is affiliated with the orientation course, KIN 253. You’ll have opportunities for career exploration, transfer credit evaluation and build an academic plan. Upperclass mentors are integrated in to the class to give you support and guidance as you transition to Iowa State and the Department of Kinesiology.
