The program supports college-going programming for King and Moulton students. In addition to programing, students are eligible for either a tuition award or a scholarship opportunity.

The program transitioned from a tuition award to a scholarship opportunity in 2025, with eligibility requirements noted below.

  • Tuition Award Eligibility: Enrolled in King or Moulton in August 2024 or earlier.
  • Scholarship Award Eligibility: Started in King or Moulton anytime between the 2025/26 and 2029/30 academic years.

Tuition Award

Beginning with the 2025-26 academic year, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth graders who were not new to the schools that year are eligible for the tuition award should they choose to attend Iowa State.

A tuition award covers the cost of taking classes for four years (or eight semesters) as determined by the years of attendance. Room, board, books, and other ISU fees are not included.

Years of Enrollment and Tuition Award

The tuition award at Iowa State is determined by the number of years a child attended King or Moulton and is as follows:

  • 1 year of enrollment; 20% tuition award
  • 2 years of enrollment; 40% tuition award
  • 3 years of enrollment; 60% tuition award
  • 4 years of enrollment; 80% tuition award
  • 5 years of enrollment; 100% tuition award

Eligible fifth graders at King and Moulton schools will become enrolled when their parent/guardian submits a DMPS release form.

A tuition award covers the cost of taking classes for four years (or eight semesters) with the percentage of coverage determined by the number of years attended at King and Moulton. Room, board, books, and other ISU fees are not included.

If your child leaves the DMPS district after 5th grade, they will no longer be eligible for the tuition award even if they return to the district.

The tuition award may be combined with non-ISU scholarships or financial aid. If your child is awarded another ISU scholarship, he or she will need to choose which one to claim.

The program began in 2013 and began transitioning to a scholarship opportunity in 2025. Continuing King and Moulton students enrolled in first through fifth grade in fall 2025 are eligible for the tuition award program as described above. Students entering kindergarten in fall 2025 or new students entering King and Moulton in fall 2025 are not eligible for the ISU 4U tuition award. They are eligible for a scholarship opportunity.

Scholarship Opportunity

Beginning with the 2025-26 academic year students in kindergarten and new to the schools are eligible for a dedicated scholarship opportunity of $1500 per year, renewable annually for a total of $6000, should they decide to attend Iowa State University

This scholarship program is available for students attending King and Moulton anytime between the 2025/26 and 2029/30 academic years.
