Staying on Track

Deadlines in the Honors program often depend on when the student was accepted into the College of Health and Human Sciences Honors Program (spring or fall) and when the student plans to present their project at the poster presentation (spring or fall of senior year).

  • The electronic program of study must be developed and the form submitted by Sept. 21 or Feb. 21 to show intent to complete the program and continue to receive the benefits of the Honors program.
  • The program of study is due no less than 4 semesters prior to your graduation semester. This is usually spring semester of sophomore year by February 21st. The form can be completed on Canvas.
  • The Honors Project intent form must be submitted one year prior to completion of the honors project. It must be submitted by Sept. 21 of the junior year when presenting the project in the fall of the senior year and must be submitted by Feb. 21 of the junior year when presenting in the spring of the senior year.
  • The proposal for the honors project must be submitted no later than the semester before the poster presentation (Feb 21 when presenting the project in the fall and Sept 21 when presenting in the spring).
  • The following are examples of Honors program timelines based on when the student was accepted into the University Honors Program.

Example Timeline

An example timeline for a student in the University Honors Program is shown above in the red graphic. Since the timeline depends on when you plan to graduate, the timeline can change if your graduation date does.

Project Proposal Form Deadline Depends on Presentation Date

  • April presentation – spring graduation
    • Sept. 21 (semester prior to presentation): Complete and submit for approval the Honors Project proposal form
    • April senior year: present your honors project
  • December presentation – fall graduation
    • Feb. 21 (semester prior to presentation): Complete and submit for approval the Honors Project Proposal form
